GDC, Ganderbal organizes a Photo Exhibition-cum-Awareness Programme on Snow Leopard Conservation
College Eco Club and Department of Zoology in collaboration with Wildlife Research Conservation Foundation organized a Photo Exhibition-cum-Awareness Programme on the iconic Snow Leopard, its associated species and the high-altitude landscape in the premises of West Campus on 5th November 2024. Mr Tahir Gazenfer, State entomologist and Conservation biologist at the Wildlife Research Conservation Foundation was the resource person for the programme. The exhibition was followed by hands on training on how to capture the live photographs of the wild animals in nature. The main aim of the programme was to provide a valuable learning experience to students and foster their interest and understanding in wildlife conservation.
Dr Shabana Aslam, Coordinator Eco Club introduced the programme and Dr Sameera Siraj, Head Department of Zoology welcomed the guests. Principal of the college Prof Fouzia Fatima complimented the organisers for organising this student- oriented event. She urged students that we all must contribute in our own ways towards the conservation of nature and natural resources including the wildlife. Besides, various faculty members the event was attended by students in large numbers who interacted with the resource person and posed many questions while discussing the photographs of wild animals captured in their natural habitats. Dr Fayaz Ahmed Ahenger, Assistant Professor Zoology supervised the signature campaign on 'Save Nature' which was lead by the College Principal, Prof Fouzia Fatima followed by the faculty members, non-teaching members and students in huge numbers. Dr Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, Associate Professor, Zoology proposed a formal vote of thanks.
