The Department of Islamic Studies was established in 2013. With just 04 students enrolled in the initial year, the Department started teaching with full vigour. With commitment and excellence in imparting quality education to the students, the Department achieved new milestones within a short period; currently, 250 students are enrolled and getting an education in the Department. It envisions becoming the centre of excellence at the global level. It encourages students to play a constructive and positive role in society. To achieve excellence, higher ethical values, strong moral character, and sound understanding of the subject are some of the key objectives of the Department.

Islamic Studies is an interdisciplinary program that aims at studying the Islamic textual traditions (the Qur’an and Hadith), critically analyzing the Islamic culture and civilization, and exploring the importance of Islamic discourses in the contemporary world. It draws on a variety of fields, including history, religions, politics, societies, economies, philosophy, art and architecture, ethics, human rights, historical area studies of the Islamic world. It provides a wide framework to students for a meaningful understanding of culture and civilization; peace and harmony; co-existence and cooperation; pluralism and toleration; tradition and modern; literature and science; rights and responsibilities. We appreciate and believe in truth, transparency, and accuracy.

Facilities

The Department has not any separate departmental library but there is a rich collection of books and monograms on Islamic Studies available at the College library. Books in English, Arabic, Urdu, and Persian languages on diverse themes of Islamic Studies make the College library a valuable resource centre busy with the students during the College working hours.
