Scope and Importance of Department

Physics is the study of energy, matter, and their interactions. It's a very broad field because it is concerned with matter and energy at all levels—from the most fundamental particles of matter to the entire universe. Some people would even argue that physics is the study of everything.

 After completing BSc Course in Physics, there are many career opportunities open, such as research analyst, a teacher, lab assistant etc. But, if we go with further study such as MSc degree, MSc PhD dual degree, Joint MSc PhD courses then one can become a scientist and apply for CSIR NET Exam also.

The Vision of Department is to develop it as an Academic excellence in Physics. We are trying to achieve overall development of the students to meet the International standards.  The completion of this UG programme will provide a fundamental knowledge in the core areas of Physics supported by the interdisciplinary courses such as Mathematics and Chemistry and improve the elemental and essential understanding of the theory topics integrated with laboratory experiment work (activity).The Course also inculcate an innate thrust to pursue for higher education and Research.

Keeping in view the importance of physics the department of Physics at GDC, Ganderbal is eager to import the late achievement in the field of Physics. It is to mention here that department will be in contact with ISRO, BARC, and other organizations for their technical and research assistance for the students and teachers of the department. It is hoped that the department will flourish under the able guidance of worthy principal.
