Urdu, the language of lover’s and poets still keeps the new generation connected with the glorious past. The Urdu language was born out of the Indian soil and its poetry Gazels and Mushairas etc. Inspired millions all over the world and it has been the most popular language for centuries together. Last year Delhi Assembly has passed Delhi Official language bill 2000 giving the Urdu Language the Status of the second official language of Delhi. In this College, Urdu Department is engaged in the promotion, propagation and development of Urdu language and literature among the students to promote Urdu Lingual Culture and encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences. Thus, the students who join here get a strong background in Urdu Literature at graduation level.

Until a quarter of a century ago the debate whether Urdu should be adopted as the medium of instruction or not would come up in conversations. Now rarely does one hear such arguments that used to take place at conferences, in newspapers and magazines and staffrooms of schools and colleges. Moreover, Urdu as a subject is not present in the bachelor's curriculum. It is the utmost duty of the educational system to give the language the importance and boost it actually requires.
