The Department of Zoology was established in 2013 with the aim to provide quality education to students and to contribute for the development of animal sciences and zoological studies. The Department places emphasis on the laboratory components in the teaching curriculum and research projects. The Department regularly organizes educational trips to wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, Fish culture centres at Laribal Dachigam and Kokernag hatcheries, sericulture centres at Mirgund Research centre and Apiculture commercial unit at SKUAST K. The Department has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty with average teaching and research experience of more than 10 years which has attracted a large number of students towards Zoology and the roll of zoology students is at par with other major subjects of the college.

 Our Department strives hard to create an environment that enables teaching and research in essential areas of animal science to attain the highest level of excellence. Although our department is still in the fancy stage, nevertheless, we promise to flourish further in the near future as we have got an excellent bunch of hardworking and highly dedicated teachers from a research background. We aim to conduct and organize all the activities and events related to zoological studies.
